Grupo Torres has signed a 7-year contract with PragmaCharge for the Valencian transport company to use the first heavy electric vehicle charging center in Spain located in Mercavalencia, which will be inaugurated this year.

VALENCIA. Grupo Torres is one of the first companies to sign a contract with PragmaCharge, which includes the leasing of up to 10 heavy electric trucks, starting with 2 trucks in 2025. The agreement between the two companies is a further step towards electrifying heavy transport in Valencia.
This alliance is part of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy of the transport company Grupo Torres, which seeks to advance on the path towards 0 emissions.
“One of the main objectives of Grupo Torres is to position ourselves as a leading company in sustainability. To achieve this, in addition to having electric heavy vehicles, we must have a guaranteed network that makes operations possible with charging centers such as the one that will be opened by the international platform PragmaCharge in October of this year and to which we have adhered,” explains Carlos Prades, CEO of Grupo Torres.
For his part, Anil Srivastava, CEO and Co-Founder of PragmaCharge, thanked the Torres Group for the confidence shown in the PragmaCharge solution, which is “designed to implement the electrification of truck fleets on a large scale, thus creating a competitive solution” and encouraged other “companies that want to begin their transition to electrification” to join the international platform.
Torres' electrified units will primarily transport containers from port to customer, transforming this route into a sustainable operation. Each truck is expected to reduce approximately 167.04 tons of CO2 per year.
Electrifying the Valencia-Madrid corridor
PragmaCharge's Valencia hub offers 24-hour, 100% renewable electricity supply, as well as secure parking and rest facilities for drivers. The platform, located close to the Port of Valencia, has capacity for 50 trucks and has up to 50 fast chargers capable of charging trucks in 45 minutes.
In this regard, Javier Serratosa, General Manager of PragmaCharge Spain, explained that “the electrification of the Valencia-Madrid-Valencia corridor will mean a significant reduction in emissions due to the large container traffic on this route”.
“We are excited about the project to build an electric recharging center in Valencia, serve the needs of transport companies and advance the decarbonization of heavy goods transport in Spain,” he added.
This center is the first that the company is going to set up in Spain. The next one will be located in Madrid with the aim of electrifying the Valencia-Madrid corridor, one of the busiest truck routes in Spain. The company has established Barcelona and Zaragoza as the next destinations for the implementation of new recharging centers.
In the long term, the aim is to create a sufficiently wide and extensive network in Spain and Portugal, of between 15 and 20 recharging centers, allowing any electric truck to have recharging centers that are no more than 300 or 400 kilometers apart.
